Description of content: Three teenage females friends; Chloe, Abby and Lucy, go out to the woods to drink some alcohol and enjoy the night. Chloe decides that she wants to tell her friends a ghost story. Even though Abby is hesitant, Chloe insists. The ghost story is told and it is now the dead of night, Abby decides that she wants to go home. the three girls start to leave the woods, however Abby and Lucy soon realise that Chloe is gone. They then hear a scream, assuming that it's Chloe, the two girls run to see what has happened to their friend. They find Chloe laying on the ground but she then screams at them and starts to laugh, she's played a prank on them. Lucty become annoyed; she and Abby decide to leave the woods again, infuriated with their friends prank. The three girls walk towards the entrance/exit of the woods, but this time Chloe ends up walking on a different path, she starts to panic and screams for help. Abby and Lucy driven by fear and frustration ignore Chloe's screams and decide to leave the woods for good. Chloe is then strangled by the ghost type enitity from her ghost story.
Purpose:The purpose of the film is to remind people about the story of 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf'
and about the premise of the story (if you lie too much no-one will believe you when you truly need
them too). We also wanted to make our audience feel suspense and we wanted to obviously entertain
them.
and about the premise of the story (if you lie too much no-one will believe you when you truly need
them too). We also wanted to make our audience feel suspense and we wanted to obviously entertain
them.
Target audience:Our target audience are people aged 15-21, mid-teenage to young adults of both genders. This is because people of this age are more likely to be interested in a horror type movie, and many horror movies are targeted at this age range group e.g. The Blair Witch Project, Jennifer's Body, The Orphan. Our secondary audience would be adults above 21 years of age as some themes in the movie may not be appropriate for children, for example, the use of alcohol.
Transmission slot: Multiplex Cinemas.

Structure/form:
The film is told through a linear narrative. A group of female teenagers venture to the woods to party and have fun. Little do they know they are being stalked by an evil entity. The girls continue to have fun by dancing and drinking alcohol. The stalker awaits behind the trees watching the girls and awaiting until the opportunity to attack arises. Chloe decides to tell the other girls, Lucy and Abby, a ghost story. Abby is creeped out by the story and decides she wants to leave, Lucy although she doesn't admit is is also fearful and decides to second Abby's decision. The girls make their way toward the exit of the woods. Lucy and Abby then relaise that Chloe is no longer with them. The two girls run in rescue of their friend to find out that she has played a prank on them. Motivated with anger at Chloe, the girls rush to leave the woods. Chloe dissappears once more. The evil entity seized the opportunity and captures Chloe. Chloe screams for help but Lucy and abby ignore her cries for help assuming that Chloe is attempting to prank them once more. Chloe is strangled to death. The girls leave the woods, convinced that Chloe is being silly.
The structure of our film production can be explained through Todorov's equilibirum model.
Equilibrium:
Three female teenager go out to the woods to hang out with each other, they dance and drink alchohol, and then one of them (Chloe) decides to tell the rest a ghost story.
Disequilibrium/Disruption:
Chloe decides to prank her friends by seperating herself from them as they leave the woods, her friends then notice that she has gone missing and hear screams. They find her and she reveals to them that she was just pranking them.
New Equilibirium/Second Disruption:
The two other girls (Abby and Lucy) leave the woods once more. Chloe goes missing again, but this time she is genuinely lost and scared. She cries for help, but her friends ignore her cries and leave the woods. Chloe is then strangled to death by the evil ghost enitity from her ghost story.
Mise-en-scene:
Setting/location- we will be filming in the woods which is a isolated following the convention of our genre. No-one will be around which helps us protray the characters vulnerability reinforcing the genre.
Props- We will be using alcohol which makes the girls seem care-free also vulnerable, as when they are drunk they are unaware of what is happening which is typical to teenagers.
Torches will be used, as it is significat to the film. We will be using them when Chloe tells the ghost story which makes the film spooky & eerie. The torches are also used when Abbie & Lucy are walking together in the dark similar to the 'Blaire witch project'
Lighting- lighting used during the beginning of the film will be high key low contrast lighting because nothing threating is happening, everything is calm & normal. We start to use low key high contrast lighting when Chloe pulls her first prank which is very significant in a horror film. The low key high contrast lighting continues until the end of the movies this because there are threats & danger during that time & this type of lighting highlights this.
Costumes- The characters will be wearing casual clothing (jeans, top, jacket) not protraying them in provocative ways, this is because neither of them behave that way.
Body language & facial expressions- types of body language will include: happy, relaxed, sacared, weak, panick
Types of facial expression will include: scared, worried, annoyed, amused
Use of camera
We will be using various camera shots & camera movement to create dramatic effeect during the threating scenes of the film. We will be using things like Close-ups to show the audience the emotions of the character or something specific. Long shots will be used to establish to the audience something (location). Medium shots will be used showing the audience the body language of the character or a two shot. We also will be also using POV shots to show the audience what the character sees. There will be high & low angles showing the audience the vulnerable & dominate characaters. Tracking will be used to include the audience, making them feel like they are apart of the film.
Editing- Basic shot reverse shot will be used during a conversation between each other. We will slow down the motion for the dancing scene when the girls are drinking, having fun, this is to emphasise on how drunk & care-free the girls are. We will aslo use cross cuttting showing more then one action happening in different locations hwoever but it is showing at the same time. The Cross cutting will take place when Abbie & Lucy decide to leave the woods & Chloe needing help in the woods because she is lost & can not find her friends

Storyboard
We constructed a storyboard so that we could visually see in sketches how the film will play out.

Risk Assessment
Hazard
|
Who might be harmed & how?
|
Precautions taken to prevent
this?
|
How effective are these
precautions?
|
Rain & slippery surfaces
|
Actors can slip during filming the disappearance scene as Abbey &
Lucy will be running.
|
During our filming sessions we plan to bring a 1st aid kit
in case of any injuries occurred.
|
Bring a 1st aid kit each filming session will help us
avoid an injury from escalating.
|
Limited lighting
|
May struggle to see actors when filming as we will be filming in the
dark, which to significant to our film.
|
Will bring more than one strong torch.
|
Will see the actors well through the digital camera because of the
strong torches.
|
Animals
|
The woods are where dogs, cats & foxes the majority of the time.
When filming an animal could walk into our set and ruin everything.
|
We will come at a certain time and day however if that does not work
we will go further into the woods as it is more isolated and abandoned.
|
Taking this precaution will avoid interference whilst filming.
|
Weather
|
Our film may be affected as the weather may not be the same as before
which won’t flow together because the Continuity is not right.
|
We will double
check the weather forecast making sure that there isn’t a big change in the
weather that will affect our filming.
|
Knowing the
weather will help us create a schedule sheet. We will know when and when not
to filming because of the weather.
|
Murder sequence
|
The antagonist
may accidently hurt the victim pretending to strangle her.
|
We have created
choreography for the murdering scene. Both
actors will rehearsal the murdering scene continuously before filming.
|
The choreography will minimize the
potential risk of injury as both actors know what they are doing because it
will be well rehearsed.
|
Camera equipment
|
Actors could drop and damage the DV camera whilst filming a POV shot.
Also someone could trip over the trip-pod as it may be in the way of actors.
|
Will make sure that the person with the DV camera is holding the
handle tightly. Will put the tri-pod to the side out of the way when it is
not needed.
|
Will avoid damaging the equipment also will avoid injury.
|
Recce Report
Lighting: High
key low contrast light will be used at the beginning of our production this
will emphasise the isolation of the location also it will give the scenery an
eerily effect following the conventions of a horror film. We will be using
natural light as we want our film to appear realistic rather then it looking
like it has been edited. We plan to film our opening sequence during the
afternoon which will state to the audience that everything is normal
(equilibrium)
Sound: The
natural sound at this location will give a creepy atmosphere & also it will
emphasise on the isolated location as no-one will be there to disturbed the
scenes. The audience will focus on the characters more and it will make our
short film seem realistic.
Lighting: Low key
high contrast lighting will be used at the middle and end of the short film
this gives the surroundings a spooky, scary feel which is generally used in
horror films like the opening scene of scream and the hills have eyes.
Sound: During the
evening when the light has done dark birds come out. The diegetic bird sound
effect will give the scene a strange, spooky effect which could signify that
something bad is going to happen. There will be atmospheric sound which will
emphasise our genre further more.
Significance: This
location is significant because this is where the girls settle themselves. During
the evening the ghost story is told in this told in this location. We chose
this location because it is far away from people, it is isolated, and no-one
will be around this area also it looked dead which give the atmosphere a
frightening feel. We made a visual reference to our posters as well this is to
create synergy through film, poster and review.
